Howe Sound Rehabilitation Services Society Awarded Three Year CARF Accreditation

In September 2004, Howe Sound Rehabilitation Services Society was awarded a three year accreditation certificate by CARF (The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) for our Community Living Services (Residential Home Support Program), Host Family Services (Assisted Independent Living Program) and Personal and Social Services (Footprints Unlimited Day Program). This is the first accreditation that the international accrediting commission has awarded to Howe Sound Rehabilitation Services Society.

This accreditation outcome represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF. An organization receiving a Three Year Accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors that its programs and services are of the highest quality and are fully measurable and accountable.

Howe Sound Rehabilitation Services Society started in 1988 providing residential services and support to adults with developmental, physical and medical health care needs.

• Community Living Services in the Lower Mainland since 1988
• Personal and Social Services since 1994
• Host Family Services since 2003/2004.

Since 1988 HSRSS has evolved into a multi-service agency that provides a broad range of services to a clientele with diverse and complex needs.

CARF is a private, non-profit organization that has been accrediting programs and services in the fields of adult day services, behavioral health, employment and community services and medical rehabilitation since 1966. CARF develops and maintains current, field driven standards through consultation with the providers, consumers and purchasers of the service.
